After a two-year sabbatical and an Olympic gold medal in bobsleigh, Heather Moyse showed she's still a force on the rugby pitch.
Moyse scored the winning try with five minutes remaining as Canada beat the U.S. Women Eagles 14-8 in a Can-Am Test series women's rugby match Monday.
The match was Moyse's return to international rugby after taking two years off to concentrate on bobsleigh as a brakeman for driver Kallie Humphries. The pair won a gold medal for Canada in women's two-man bobsled at the Vancouver Olympics.
"Two years away from the team is a long time," Moyse said. "It feels good to get those first-game nerves out of my system and now I can just concentrate and play rugby because I love it instead of worrying about all of the other things that are surrounding it."
Kelly Russell had Canada's other try, while Anna Schnell, Ashley Patzer kicked conversions.
Phaidra Knight had an unconverted try for the U.S. while Stephanie Bruce scored on a penalty.
The two teams meet again Friday.
